Jasmin Maldonado, Principal
Woman with brown hairMs. Jasmin Maldonado is honored to serve this incredible community, having grown and led in various roles, from classroom teacher to instructional leader and now school administrator. Her deep connection to the organization is grounded in a shared dedication to students, families, and the community. Each day, students inspire with their curiosity, resilience, creativity, and brilliance. Alongside the dedicated administrative team and exceptional staff, there is a commitment to cultivating leaders at every level and strengthening the school culture through equity, trust, and collaboration.
 
Our instructional focus centers on building staff capacity through meaningful professional learning and coaching that ensures every student receives the targeted support needed to grow and thrive. This ensures that students engage in purposeful academic experiences that meet them where they are and move them forward in their learning.

Christina Lewis, Assistant Principal

Ms. Christina supports teachers in delivering high-quality Literacy instruction by overseeing the implementation of all ELA curriculum. She collaborates with instructional coaches to strengthen classroom practice aligned to the NYC Reads initiative, including HMH Into Reading, Readtopia/ReadtopiaGO, and a variety of reading intervention programs. Together with the coaching team, Ms. Christina facilitates the New Teacher Cohort, ensuring that new educators receive the support and guidance they need as they transition into the P94M community.

In addition to her curriculum leadership, Ms. Christina serves as the administrative partner for Urban Advantage, coordinating resources, professional learning opportunities, and science field experiences for both staff and students.

Ms. Christina also supervises Data and Assessment schoolwide and oversees NYSAA test administration for students in grades 3-12 who are alternately assessed. Working in partnership with the Data Team, she monitors progress in reading, writing, and math.

She began her career at P94M as a 6:1:1 classroom teacher, later serving as an instructional coach before becoming an Assistant Principal. Ms. Christina is deeply committed to fostering strong school-to-home partnerships and ensuring that teachers are equipped with the tools and support they need to help every student succeed.

Dr. Heather Riley Kamit, Assistant Principal

Dr. Heather provides instructional leadership across multiple programs, overseeing the implementation of Readtopia in the upper elementary grades and Phonics for Reading to strengthen literacy outcomes. She spearheaded the development of a new thematic Social Studies curriculum, designed in collaboration with teachers across grade bands as well as our instructional and technology coaches, ensuring alignment with the Social Studies topics in Readtopia, Readtopia-Go and HMH Into Reading. In addition, she directs P94M’s mentoring program, drawing upon the findings of her recently defended dissertation, Leadership Practices that Contribute to the Development and Retention of Highly Skilled Novice Teachers, to design structures that strengthen support for early-career educators.
 
 
Beyond her work in curriculum and mentoring, Dr. Heather provides strategic oversight of the Related Services Department, the Inclusion Program, Safety, and the Physical Education team, ensuring that each area aligns with the school’s mission of equitable, high-quality instruction. She also leads the coordination of schoolwide initiatives designed to strengthen community, celebrate student achievement, and promote wellness. Among these are hallmark events such as March Madness, Spring Sports Carnival, and the annual Field Day, which not only build school spirit but also foster collaboration, inclusivity, and pride across the P94M community.

 

Jaclyn Alper, Assistant Principal

Woman with brown hairMs. Jaclyn supports our staff by overseeing the tracking and compliance of the Individualized Education Plans (IEP). She is responsible for overseeing standardized testing and managing our Go Math curriculum. Ms. Jaclyn is vital in supporting our Art Cohort across all sites, including assisting with our Art Partnerships and Grants.

Ms. Jaclyn supports staff by actively communicating with the Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT) to resolve bussing issues promptly and efficiently. She serves as a key liaison between the school and OPT, ensuring that transportation concerns—such as delays, routing problems, and student eligibility—are addressed promptly. Jaclyn supports both the middle school and high school teams in implementing the READTOPIA curriculum. She helps ensure that staff have the resources, training, and guidance needed to deliver this specialized literacy program effectively, designed to meet the diverse learning needs of students with complex disabilities.

At P94M, Ms. Jaclyn oversees attendance duties. She keeps attendance records, communicates with teachers and parents, and works alongside the District 75 Attendance Teacher to ensure everything runs smoothly within the school's organization.
 
For the past 17 years, Ms. Jaclyn has had the privilege of serving as an Inclusion Teacher and Site Coordinator at P94M, prior to becoming an Assistant Principal. Her passion is creating an inclusive, welcoming environment where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
 
Makini Velàzquez, Assistant Principal

Ms. Makini is an Assistant Principal at P94M. She helps lead teaching across many programs and supports the Multilingual / English Language Learner Department. As the school’s Language Access Coordinator, she makes sure students and families who speak different languages get the information and help they need in the language they prefer. She also runs the ENL Afterschool Program and helps make the school’s Language Allocation Policy.

Ms. Makini is in charge of College and Career Readiness and Transition Programming. She works closely with the Transition Linkage Coordinator and the Work-Based Learning Coordinator to give students real work experiences. These include events like Career Day and the Worksite Showcase. Her dream is that every student leaves P94M with a clear plan for a good life path — chances for paid work experience, career certificates, lessons about money and using computers, and strong mentors. She believes this can happen through fair practices and strong parent involvement, making families partners in their child’s success.

Before she became an Assistant Principal, Ms. Makini was an ENL teacher in District 75 for 18 years. She has a strong background in language teaching, inclusion, and family support. As the school’s Sustainability Coordinator, she connects programs to the NYC DOE Sustainability Plan and leads Climate Action and Family Engagement work with the Parent Coordinator, PTA, School Leadership Team, and School Social Worker.

She loves hands-on learning, school gardens, and healthy living. She has received several grants for sustainability and nutrition that support programs like Kindred Bakery, Teen Battle Chef, and Leave It Better. These programs help students learn about wellness, the environment, and real-world skills.

Ms. Makini believes that when we leave ourselves better, we leave the world better. She works every day to help students and families grow, learn, and thrive.

 
 
Jennifer Eustache, Assistant Principal, I.A.
 
Woman with black hairMs. Jennifer Eustache has worked in special education for more than ten years. Now she is the Interim Assistant Principal at P94M. She started at P94M as a teacher and spent almost seven years teaching in a 6:1:1 self-contained classroom. Those years helped her learn how teachers can help students grow by giving each child special support, building strong relationships, and believing every student can do their best.
 

After teaching, she became an instructional coach. For three years, she worked with principals, teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and families to make lessons better and put students at the center of learning. That job made her love working with others even more and showed her that helping teachers helps students succeed.

Ms. Jennifer enjoys being part of a school where everyone helps students grow. As Interim Assistant Principal, she works to make the school a supportive, fair, and high-quality place for all learners. She believes every child has potential and is inspired by students’ strength, creativity, and spirit. She feels honored to lead, learn, and grow with this amazing school community.

Ms. Eustache also joins family events and PTA meetings. She is in charge of the Science Department, the ReadtopiaGO literacy program, and support programs for paraprofessionals. She makes sure teaching matches the school’s mission: to value each student’s identity, listen to their voices, and give everyone the same chances to succeed.
