Social Studies
Social Studies:
This K-12 Thematic Scope and Sequence was developed with Passport to Social Studies as the base curriculum and Civics for All as the supplemental curriculum. This resource meets the criteria of the New York State Learning Standards for Social Studies and the NYSED State Mandated Instruction in Social Studies. Within each grade band, thematic connections are made to related content from the approved core literacy curricula: Into Reading, Into Literature, Readtopia, and ReadtopiaGO.
The goal of this thematic scope and sequence is to address the challenge of providing Social Studies instruction to multigrade classes. As each grade level covers different content in history, geography, economics, and civics, covering all the material during the year may not be appropriate or accessible for some students.
